Cloyne District Community Council AGM 2009 Secretary’s Report
The First Annual General Meeting held on 3rd December 2009 in Harty’s Restaurant

A summary of our activities and achievements during the in the last year include:

Services to the Community

Smoke alarms sourced and fitted for elderly
Town entrance signs ready to be put in place
Made donation to the local school for building costs
Personal safety alarms sourced and fitted for elderly
Committee Business
Election held 13/October/08
Officers and Sub –Committees set up
17 meetings of the Council since October 2008
Affiliated with Muintir Na Tire
Held a meeting with the Gardai to establish contacts and exchange information

Work with local organisations

Opened discussions with Church Of Ireland about the Round Tower
Agreement reached with the GAA for the handover of the Community Hall by July 2010 at latest
Established links with local clubs/groups and co-opted members
Held meetings with SECAD personnel to establish contacts and inform group about funding options
Established links with the local media
Opened contacts with Community Alert with a view to scheme in the area
Discussions begun and ongoing with Parish priest regarding the Hall and Playground

Fundraising Activities

Held First Annual Harvest Festival
Children’s Halloween disco
Church gate collection for the benefit of elderly and donation to go to elderly Christmas party
Christmas 2008 raffle held and further successful fundraising
Held music/social night

Local Amenity Projects

Tourism brochure published to promote the area
Sourcing and erection of the town Christmas tree and lights
Set up www.cloyne.ie as our Community Council website

Harvest Festival

All the committees are busy planning the Harvest Festival, which will take place in October this year. We will be publishing regular updates of all the activities and fun events which will take place on the day

Cloyne Road Race Flyer

Cloyne 5 K Road race

The race will take place at 7.30 pm on Thursday 9th September. Registration will take place at the Cloyne National School from 6 pm.  The walkers can register until 6:45 and the runners until 7:15.
